Patient journey
What to expect
Consultation & preparation
Bring any documentation from your EPU, GP, or hospital — type of loss, gestational age, medical management received, and any post-loss bleeding pattern. Eat a light meal 1 to 2 hours before the session. Wear loose comfortable clothing. We send a recovery questionnaire before the first session to make the intake feel less interrogative.
During treatment
Aftercare
You leave each session with a written summary of changes to the supplement / herbal / cycle-tracking plan, a clear next step, and (where useful) a referral to a counsellor or psychotherapist with pregnancy-loss experience. We review the plan at every visit.

FAQ
Common
questions
How soon after a miscarriage can I come in?
Most women come in 1 to 3 weeks after the physical event. We never run treatment over an active heavy bleed or where there are red-flag symptoms (severe pain, fever, suspected retained products). Your EPU or GP follow-up needs to be the first port of call for those. Once you are physically stable, we are here whenever you are ready.
Is acupuncture safe so soon after loss?
Yes — gentle, recovery-focused needling is safe and is one of the more useful supportive interventions in this window. We adjust depth, points, and intensity to what you can tolerate. Anyone still on medical-management protocols (misoprostol, mifepristone) coordinates with the prescribing clinic on timing.
When should I think about investigations?
NHS practice typically investigates after 3 consecutive miscarriages; many private clinics offer it after 2. Investigations cover antiphospholipid syndrome, thrombophilia screen, parental karyotyping, uterine imaging, and (in some clinics) chronic endometritis biopsy. We can suggest sensible questions for your GP or specialist; we are not a replacement for that workup.
How is this different from going to therapy?
Body Perfected is integrative physical-recovery care — acupuncture, MLD, nutrition, herbs — with a trauma-aware practitioner. It is not psychotherapy. Many clients use both: a counsellor, psychotherapist, or perinatal mental-health team for the talking work, and Body Perfected for the body work. We can recommend therapists experienced with pregnancy loss where helpful.
